Since 1990, Stephen has been involved in the sale of all types of commercial property, including hospitality, office buildings, industrial and manufacturing facilities, multi-family complexes, shopping centers, development land, retail and many other special purpose properties. Karbelk has also sold various types of commercial assets involved in complex sale situations, such as intellectual property, commercial equipment, receivables and the sale and assignment of commercial leases in bankruptcy and reorganization.

  • Stephen has also been a speaker at multiple trade conferences throughout the United States.

Professional Memberships:

Stephen graduated from George Mason University, Fairfax, VA (1992) with a BS in History, followed by graduate studies in Business Administration. He has earned several other professional accreditations including the Certified Auctioneers Institute (CAI) and the Accredited Auctioneer of Real Estate (AARE). He holds several real estate and auctioneers licenses.

Stephen continues to support George Mason University as a valued alumnus. He founded the History and Art History Alumni Chapter, was a member of the Board of Directors of the GMU Alumni and received the “History & Art History Alumni of the Year”. He currently underwrites this award in the honor of a former deceased Professor.   

A native of Fairfax, VA, Stephen, his wife Amanda, and their daughter, Samantha recently relocated to Tulsa, OK. They enjoy riding their horse, “Miss Texas”, hunting, and playing golf. Stephen owns several mobile home parks and maintains ownership interest in an office property.

Meg Vavrick, Chief Operating Officer
Meg, a principal in the company, is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the business and coordination of auction activities for each sale. Having been in the real estate auction industry since 2004, she has played an integral role in the sale of various types of commercial real estate including office buildings, hotels, multi-family buildings, shopping centers, assisted living facilities, land and other special purpose properties with an aggregate value of over $75 million.

John Pellow, Vice President, Marketing
John joined NCA in 2009 and is responsible for corporate brand management and all aspects of marketing from strategy to implementation for all properties. He is an expert in marketing, having spent over 19 years of his professional career in various aspects of auction, corporate and retail marketing. Prior to joining NCA, John was the Director of Marketing for the real estate auction and brokerage services firm, Williams & Williams and was responsible for all marketing aspects of the Commercial Real Estate, Farms and Ranches, and Premiere Properties divisions.

Ken “Whitey” Mason, Corporate Auctioneer
Whitey has been in the auction industry for over twenty years, starting in 1988 as a ringman at a bank liquidation auction. He attended Missouri Auction School in 1989 and since then has worked a wide variety of auctions including commercial, estate, farm and ranch, exotic animals, automobiles, coins, jewelry, collector cars and equipment. He is a longtime member of the Oklahoma State Auctioneers Association, serving two years as president and three years on the board. He also works auto auctions in Texas and Oklahoma and is a member of the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction team in Scottsdale, AZ.

Stephanie Butler, Auction Services Coordinator
Stephanie assists in the coordination of each auction, as well as handling day-to-day business activities. She assists in the research and preparation of Property Information Packages, database management, buyer inquires, and client interaction. Prior to working at NCA, Stephanie worked as a Legal Assistant for over ten years, with a focus in the area of litigation, as well as transactional law. In addition to her legal experience, Stephanie has also taught legal secretarial classes part-time at a local business school for over two years.

Stephen Kaler, Florida Real Estate Broker
Stephen manages the Florida operations. He brings more than 19 years of experience in distressed commercial loan and real estate portfolio management, valuation and sales to National Commercial Auctioneers. His commercial real estate career started in the early 90's as an appraiser working on Bank/RTC/FDIC assignments. He also spent more than 11 years with Ocwen Financial Corp. as Sr. Mgr. & Director of nonperforming commercial loans, CREO, whole-loan and MBS trading. With more than $1 billion of distressed debt and real estate transaction experience, he works closely with banks, special loan servicers and real estate funds throughout the country. Stephen is a Florida Real Estate Broker of 14 years and an alumnus of Florida State University with majors in Real Estate and Finance.

Alan Y Jones, Regional Vice President-Broker
Alan manages the East Texas office. He became an auctioneer in 1967 and has conducted over 1500 auctions. He has been involved with real estate auctions since 2001 specializing in commercial and lender owned properties. During his career he also owned and was CEO of a Texas-based family owned regional equipment distributorship covering 4 states and a wholesale automobile auction. Alan graduated from Texas A&M University with Bachelor of Science Degree and holds a Texas Real Estate Broker’s license.

Fernando Palacios, Regional Vice President-Broker
Fernando manages the Mid-Atlantic office. Having been in the real estate industry since 1992, he has been involved in many types of real estate transactions including land development parcels and complex development transactions. Fernando’s responsibilities include project management, sale preparation and closing coordination. He is also responsible for new business development relationships in the Mid-Atlantic marketplace. Fernando holds a Virginia, Washington DC as well as Maryland broker’s license.

T. Randolph (Randy) Ligon, CES, BAS, Regional Vice President - Broker
Randy manages the Carolina’s office. Having lived in the Charlotte MSA most of his life, he is an experienced Commercial Realtor and Auctioneer with over 12 years experience. Randy is a graduate of the Missouri Auction School and Clemson University and is a candidate for both his CCIM and CAI designations. His professional career also includes working for the South Carolina National Bank and First Union National Bank as a trust officer and city executive. Randy is currently serving on the Board of Directors of the South Carolina Auctioneers Association. An accomplished professional benefit auctioneer, Randy enjoys raising millions of dollars for worthy causes.

Don Gabriel, CCIM, Regional Vice President - Broker
Don manages the Kansas City office. He has 30+ years of real estate experience with a special emphasis in the area of institutional investment properties and portfolios. Don graduated from the University of California, is a licensed broker in the states of Kansas and Missouri and a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM). Don’s professional career includes over 15 years of progressively responsible positions as an executive/broker at the national level with CB Richard Ellis. He was responsible for implementation, marketing and disposition for assets contained in institutional portfolios. Don is also an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).

Timothy Moriarty, Vice President
Tim manages the Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas office. He offers a national understanding of the real estate market with a 20-year career in real estate including auction, mortgage banking and the executive relocation industries. Tim has successfully managed the disposition of over $700,000,000 non-performing real estate assets. His dedication to learning has resulted in his designation as a licensed real estate broker in the states of Oklahoma & Texas, a Certified Relocation Professional, a Global Mobility Specialist and a licensed auctioneer. Tim is a graduate of Southern Methodist University and is completing a three year commitment with the Certified Auctioneers Institute

Jerry Floyd, BAS, PRI, CAI – II, CAGA, Auctioneer
Jerry works from the east Texas office. He has been an auctioneer since 2005 specializing in the foodservice industry and is expanding into other areas of commercial real estate, including industrial, land, freestanding retail and other major CRE property types. His industry experience started at a young age where he worked and owned several restaurants and convenience stores before starting an appraisal and liquidation business working with such companies as Wal-Mart, Target, Pizza Hut, Brinker and WholeFoods. Jerry graduated from North Texas State University and Texas Auction Academy.

Patricia Floyd, Auction Coordinator
Patricia graduated in 1971 from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology and became certified as a Medical Technologist specializing in Microbiology. She worked for St. Paul Hospital in Dallas, Methodist Hospitals of Dallas, and Smith-Kline Laboratories when after over twenty years in the medical profession, she retired to support the family auction business Floyds Prime Equipment, Inc. Patricia received her Real Estate license in Texas and specializes in selling commercial real estate at auction.

Daniel E. Hawe, P.E. Oil and Gas Sales
Dan is a seasoned registered professional engineer with 33 years of diverse and comprehensive oil industry experience; he offers expertise in opportunity appraisal and risk analysis. The past 19 years have been focused largely on property divestment activities, as well as acquisitions and property development. His extensive background in operations, reservoir engineering and risk analysis complement his marketing and communications skills. Dan is also an instructor at the University of Tulsa and is currently working towards his Masters.
